My name is Keith Whatlin, and since 2002 I have been delivering illustrated talks. Prior to this, I taught Art for over 27 years, 15 as Head of Art in a large comprehensive school. I am based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire.

I have always considered both Art and History to be inextricably linked; the Art of a society reflects that society, and becomes part of its History as it develops. Ancient artefacts are both artistic creations and a window on a past world. For me, handling an ancient artefact instantly builds a bridge between our time and that of the past, and I strongly believe holding something handcrafted perhaps two thousand years ago brings to anyone, young or old, an unforgettable experience.

I deliver regular daytime illustrated talks for local organisations who meet in the S Yorks / N Derbys. area. These may be church groups, Probus clubs, Oddfellows, local history groups and similar.

The most enjoyable thing of all is sharing my enthusiasm with others, and hopefully passing on the desire to know more........!
